November mid-month tutorial

You can find our November Challenge HERE

Hello everyone, Sammy here with the November mid-month tutorial.

As you may have seen at the beginning of the month, I altered an MDF plaque this month, and it turned out like this:

So, how did I make it? First of all, I took a blank plaque from Inkylicious, and painted it using acrylic paints and crackle medium.

Next I hunted through my stash for some seashells and driftwood, and arranged them to my liking.

A large pearl adds a little extra interest, as does the small "message in a bottle".

The seaweed was die-cut from Coredinations cardstock with First Edition dies, and distressed using sandpaper. using more than one shade of green adds depth and interest.

Next, I mixed some seed beads in a few different "sea" colours. A little goes a long way, and you can always make more. which is preferable to making far too much and then trying to separate them again!

I added the beads to the "ocean floor" and the driftwood, to make it look like algae.

A small starfish adds a pop of colour...

Next I printed and added a sea related quote (yes, it's from The Little Mermaid. I like it, so there!), and finally added some glass dew drops in different sizes as bubbles.

And there you have it. One sea-themed MDF plaque.

I hope you like it!

Don't forget to come and play with us this month. we're looking forward to seeing your gorgeous makes!

Have a fantastic day,

August Tutorial

You can find our August Challenge HERE

August Tutorial

Hello, it's Julie!
It's tutorial day.
I hope you enjoy my experiments.

I enjoy adding decor pieces to our home.
Do you?

We have been renovating our home over the past 4 years.
It's gone from country style
to a lot sleeker with a Moroccan feel.

The decor change began with this gorgeous light.

After distress finishing the dining table recently with chalk paint,
I bought a bowl,

then I made a canvas runner,
which I shared with you on August 1st.

I loved it
So I've added placemats.

Please let me know if you were inspired to try this process yourself.
I would love your feedback.

What's next?
We are remodelling outside now too!
It's fantastic what you can do with little money but a
lot of imagination.

Until next time
